Central England Law Centre is the UK’s largest Law Centre, with a national reputation for innovation and excellence in its legal practice. We are a charity that provides free specialist legal advice to people in Coventry and Birmingham who are most in need. We advocate for people, challenge unfair decisions, take cases to the highest courts and work in partnerships with other support services.

Operating from our main office in Coventry City Centre and our Birmingham office in Tyesley, we work tirelessly to fulfil our vision of a society where people’s rights are upheld, their needs met, and in which everybody can thrive.

At the heart of its approach is total commitment to services that address all the interconnected problems people face in their everyday lives. Poverty lies at the core of these issues.  We need to build a stronger response that reaches those who are least likely to know that they have legal rights

The successful candidate will be Project Solicitor / Caseworker for Rights in Peril project which involves representation of clients whose assessments, support plans or packages appear to have been affected by easements (whether they were formally in operation or not) and  analysing impact to develop insights and expertise to enable Central England Law Centre to meaningfully contribute locally and nationally to the debate about the future of social care post-pandemic and the role of legal rights within the social care framework.

The candidate will also work with Law students from CELC/Warwick University’s Strategic Public Law Clinic  [SPLC]    on  projects  related to  Care Act easements.  This work will generate information and resources to support Rights in Peril activities and will provide the participating students with   meaningful learning opportunities whilst gaining practical insight into the strategic use of public law to address systemic disadvantage and achieve effective change.

Coventry Law Centre is in the heart of the City and a 5-minute walk from the railway station.  Our terms and conditions include a 37-hour week, 28 days holiday plus 8 statutory days, and pension scheme membership.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play an essential role in a friendly organisation that is trying to make a difference to the lives of those people in our communities that are most vulnerable.
