Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children

Many unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC) are unrepresented or struggle to find representation.

Local Authorities are supporting these children and a number of former UASC care leavers who need advice about their options. From June 2023, we will be providing quick, high-quality advice to support social workers in their cases with these children. This is an excellent opportunity for us to share good practice and provide training to support our communities.

We are aiming to build a network of trusted, high-quality legal advice providers for unaccompanied asylum seeking children.

Supreme Court confirms new right to claim advance payments of Universal Credit despite not having a National Insurance Number

The Supreme Court has refused the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions permission to appeal against the Court of Appeal's decision on the Department for Work & Pension’s policy refusing advance payments of Universal Credit to claimants waiting for National Insurance Numbers, upholding the existing judgement.
